Permanent record
Capture Matrix Framework
How Residuum Press tracks reading order, canon status, and preservation notes across the connected works of the Residuum universe.
What it is
The Capture Matrix Framework is the internal record Residuum Press keeps for every title in the Residuum universe: which institutions, places, and recurring elements a book shares with the others, where it sits in reading order, and what has been confirmed as canon versus still in development.
It exists so that connected novels can be read independently while still lining up correctly for readers who want the fuller picture — and so that the record itself is preserved, not just the books.
What it tracks
- Reading order — the recommended sequence through the connected Residuum universe titles.
- Canon status — published and confirmed, in development, or reserved for a future title.
- Shared elements — institutions, places, and recurring details that connect otherwise standalone books.
- Preservation notes — archival records for each edition, kept alongside the public canon files.
Where the full record lives
The complete, versioned Capture Matrix and canon files are maintained in the public universe bible repository and mirrored to long-term archival storage.
